State governments are beginning to evacuate its students schooling at University of Jos, Plateau State as a result of the crisis that have rocked the City in the last few days.
The government gave the directive in a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary,CPS, to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, Mrs. Mary Noel-Berje, in Minna, the state capital.
“Worried about the wellbeing of her citizens and for them not to be left stranded as well as become victims of circumstances, the state government through the Commissioners for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as well as Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, made arrangements for vehicles and security personnel to ensure safe evacuation and return of the students,” the governor’s spokesperson stated.
Also, Kogi State students studying in the university and other higher institutions in Plateau State have been successfully evacuated by the state government.
While describing the event on the Plateau as unfortunate, Governor Yahaya Bello assured the students of their quick return to school, noting that the authority in Plateau State was on top of the situation to restore law and order in the state.
It would be recalled that the security situation has compelled the university management to suspend the second semester examinations for the 2019/2020 academic session.
