A Senior Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Kano, on Friday ordered that a 45-year-old man, Umar Yakubu, who allegedly stole 23 donkeys and two cows, be remanded in prison, pending sentencing.
The police charged Yakubu, who resides at Kaduna State, with criminal conspiracy and theft.
Senior Magistrate Fauziya She-She, gave the order after Yakubu pleaded guilty to the offence,
She-She adjourned the matter until Aug.15 for sentencing.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, ASP Muhammad Bakori, told the court that Yakubu committed the offence in December 2018 at Yelwa Village, Sumaila Local Government Area of Kano.
He said the accused criminally conspired with two others, at large and stole 23 donkeys and two cows valued at N95,000, belonging to the complainant, Malam Yunusa Adamu.
Bakori said that the offence contravened the provisions of section 97 and 287 of the Penal Code Law.
