The recent waiver granted to Dangote as the only brand to export out of Nigeria despite the border closures have been greeted with pockets of reaction with many terming the decision as a breach of fairness and equity.

Recall that Bloomberg had reported on Tuesday that Dangote has been given a waiver by President Buhari to move goods to Togo and Benin despite the closure of the land borders for over a year.

Businessman and economist in his reaction to the development frowned at the decision to open the borders to Dangote alone and leaving out other exporters.

Peterside had said through his official Twitter handle, @AtedoPeterside, that the decision in favour of Dangote Group was not a fair one to other brands

He tweeted: “Allowing legitimate exporters and importers to move their goods across the border should be a no-brained. Why refuse everybody else & allow only a company Dangote? This is why some of us argue that the Nigerian economy is rigged in favour of a handful of well connected persons” Peterside added.
