Man, 28, docked for allegedly stealing N3m truck

A truck driver, Emeka Ogbonna, who allegedly stole a Renault Mark truck valued at N3 million was on Monday brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.

The defendant, 28, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy to wit: felony and stealing.

He, however,  pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Cousin Adams, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Dec. 8, 2019, at Market Road, Megjda area of Ayobo, Lagos suburb.

“The defendant had stolen a Renault Mark vehicle with registration no. BDG 853 XQ valued at N3 million, belonging to the complainant, Mr Solomon Nwoko,” Adams said.

According to him, the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Alex Komolafe, granted the defendant bail of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, one of whom must be a blood relation of the defendant.

Komolafe also said that the other sureties must show proof of residence within the court’s jurisdiction and voters’ card.

He adjourned the case until March 23 for mention.
