Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor, also known as Rema, has won the award for Best Afrobeats for MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA)
Rema beat singers like Asake, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Davido etc. in the category. The category was just added in the 2023 nomination list.
The event was cancelled amid the Israel-Hamas war but results were announced on Sunday, November 5, 2023.
‘Calm Down’ by Rema and Selena Gomez lost the award for ‘Best Collaboration’ category.
Burna Boy lost all nominations just weeks after he lost all nominations at the BET award 2023.
