The MTV Video Music Awards 2023 has released the nomination list including Afrobeats category for the first time.
The event is scheduled to take place on September 12, 2023, airing live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The list which was released a few hours ago has artistes like Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj topping the charts with 8 and 5 nominations respectively.
Afrobeat singer Rema alongside Selena Gomez bags three nominations, ‘Song of The Year’, ‘Best collaborations’ and the new afrobeat category.
The new category has a list of Afrobeat singers and a Cameroonian-American singer, Libianca.
