Following the return of the sixth edition of TV reality show, Big Brother Naija, some fans have called on the organisers to replace regular host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu with either Frank Edoho or Nancy Isime.
Ebuka, renowed for his elegance, has been the face of the show in the last three years.
In 2017, Ebuka, who himself is an alumnus of the show, was named host of the second season, which was rebranded as Big Brother Naija and has held on to the spotlight ever since.
However, some Twitter fans on Friday, began a debate over a possible successor for the 38-year-old, with Edoho and Isime highly tipped.
A Twitter user said, “Ebuka don eat small, make him allow another person chop!
“Frank Edoho as BBNaija host for this season won’t be a bad choice tho. Eviction night go choke gan.”
The debate apparently led to a “gender war” as a user pointed out.
A Twitter user said, “Why can’t a woman host BBN? Why can’t BBN have 2 hosts? There are no rules anywhere.
“Also, nobody is taking anybody’s job. If BBN replaces Ebuka it’s because he’s moved on to other things or they decided they wanted someone else, not because someone tweeted it.”
Another user argued the need for Ebuka to be replaced. He said, “You want Ebuka and Nancy Isimi or Frank Edoho in. Why? You said ‘someone else deserves the job too.’ Well someone else deserve a shot at your own job too and I feel you should be fired.”
Another popular Twitter user said, “Something in me feels like Biggie might come up with a shocker for this BBNaija season and have Frank Edoho as the host or co-host.”
However, Edoho slammed those asking for someone who spent a few years on a show to be replaced compared to him who hosted a game show for more than a decade.
He tweeted: “What did Ebuka do to deserve all this! Why would you want to change someone that had done a show successfully for only 3 years and have him replaced with one who did WWTBAM for 13 years? Leave Ebuka alone! Please.”
Edoho gained prominence as host of ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ from 2004 – 2017.
The game show first aired on October 8, 2004, and stopped temporarily on June 25, 2017.
Isime, meanwhile, rated as one of the country’s best female media personality is yet to react.
