Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, says international flights will resume on August 29, 2020.
Sirika said this in a tweet on Monday.
He tweeted, “Glad to announce the resumption of international flights from the August 29, 2020 beginning with Lagos and Abuja as we did with the domestic flight resumption.
“Protocols and procedures will be announced in due course. We thank you for your patience.”
The airports have been closed since March 23 to all but essential international flights as part of efforts to combat the new coronavirus.
The Chairman, Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Mr Boss Mustapha, had revealed that inbound passengers from foreign trips will be tested for COVID-19 on arrival at the Nigeria airports.
He said, “Considering the importance of international air travel to the economy, the PTF and the Aviation sector are working hard to fast-track reopening of the international airspace.
“Most importantly, the arrival protocols for passengers on inbound flights are being firmed up for seamless testing and detection.
“Relevant Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) will hold further consultations,” he said.
