American rapper, Nicki Minaj’s father, 64, Robert Maraj has been killed in a hit and run in New York.
According to reports, Maraj was walking along a road on Long Island at exactly 6:15pm on Friday, February 12 when he got hit by a car.
The driver of the hit and run didn’t stop, and has not been identified.
A spokesperson from Nassau County Police department and a representative of the veteran rapper, has confirmed the news.
Robert Maraj was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead on Saturday, February 13.
The 38-year old rapper is yet to make an official statement regarding his death.
According to the Police department, Maraj was walking in the roadway on Roslyn Road at the intersection of Raff Avenue around 6 p.m. when he was struck a vehicle heading northbound.
Homicide detectives are currently investigating the hit-and-run incident and are yet to make an arrest. Authorities are asking for anyone with information to reach out.
Recall that the rapper had revealed years ago about the ill treatment they received from her abusive father. She claimed her mother had left her father several times only to return afterwards.
The rapper claimed one time, her father had dragged her mother from a car and went two blocks. The rapper said while disclosing the torture she had in her childhood.
“My mother left him many different times and came back. One time he pulled my mother out of a car and dragged her two blocks,” she said.
Although the relationship between the father and daughter is unclear but the rapper has been seen photographed alongside the dad several times.
