A former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has said that anyone leaving the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), at this time is taken away by his own covetousness.

Fayose, who is also a chieftain of the PDP, said he had no intention to dump his party for the APC because he was not a dishonourable man.

According to the former Governor, on Sunday evening, he had gone too far and had spoken too much to now join the APC, in addition to the fact that the PDP offered him all the opportunities anybody could offer.

Fayose also eased fears by expressing confidence that a former Aviation minister, Femi Fani Kayode was not leaving the PDP as alleged after he was seen holding meetings with some APC Governors.

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello also claimed that Fani Kayode was on the verge of joining the APC, a claim the former minister has debunked.

Also responding to the question on the rumoured plan by Fani Kayode to join the APC soon, and if things are falling apart in the party, Fayose said, “Anyone who leaves the PDP to the APC by this time is taken away by his own covetousness. Instead of me to leave the PDP, I better…what do I want to become? I became a governor at the age of 42.

“All the opportunities anybody could offer, PDP offered. I will now go to APC, what is missing sir? Some people could choose to be dishonourable. Not me.

“For me at this age, having spoken this much and having gone far? Having defended the people of Nigeria? I’m a very clear Nigerian.

“I’m not going to play to the gallery. I’m not going to impress you, the truth be told. I know FFK too is going nowhere. The perception…what they’re saying is not true. I’ve spoken with FFK for about six times and I’m hundred percent sure.

“It’s normal for you to sell your market for those who want to buy. Let me tell you something, if FFK is going and is not gone by now, it means something is wrong.” he said
