No fatality as Nigeria records 45 new Covid-19 cases, 65 recoveries

Nigeria, on Friday, recorded 45 new coronavirus infections.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), which announced this via Twitter, confirmed the country’s total cases as 164,588.

According to the agency, the fresh cases were recorded in seven states and the Federal Capital Territory.

A breakdown shows Lagos, the nation’s epicentre with 26 cases, Rivers (10), Delta (3), Kano (2), Akwa Ibom (1), FCT (1), Kaduna (1) and Nasarawa (1).

The NCDC also revealed that 65 patients were discharged, taking the total recoveries to 154,643.

However, no fatality was recorded, according to the data released.

Meanwhile, glogbally there has been over 146 million cases, nearly 84 million recoveries and about 3.10 million deaths.

Although the United States of America is the epicentre with over 32 million infections, India is recording a frightening surge for the last one month.

Hospitals in the Asian nation have launched desperate appeals for oxygen as the Covid crisis spiralled.

The country on Saturday reported 346,786 new infections in the past day, setting a world record for a third consecutive day, while deaths rose by 2,624 – the highest daily rate for India so far.
