No fatality as Nigeria records 64 new coronavirus cases, 35 recoveries

Nigeria, on Wednesday, recorded 65 fresh coronavirus cases.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the new infections was spread across 11 states.

Lagos led the way with 41 cases, followed by Kaduna (6), Kano (3), Rivers (3), Plateau (3), Akwa Ibom (2), Imo (2), Oyo (2), Edo (1), Bauchi (1) and Osun (1).

In an update on Twitter, the agency confirmed that the country’s Covid-19 cases have reached 164,488.

A breakdown of the cases shows Lagos remains the epicentre with 58, 209 infections followed by the Federal Capital Territory (19,754), Plateau (9,049), Kaduna (9,036) and Rivers (7,070).

However, no fatality was recorded in the last 24 hours as deaths from the pandemic stood at 2,061.

Thirty-five persons, meanwhile, were discharged, the NCDC also announced, taking the tally of recovered patients to 154,441.

Globally, there have been over 141 million cases, more than 80 million recoveries and just a little above 30 million casualties.

The United States still leads the way with about 32 million cases, followed by India and Brazil with over 30 million infections combined.
