Expecting a drastic fall in the nation’s revenue as a result of the massive hit on global economy by Coronavirus, the Federal Government has announced a big cut in the capital expenditure of the 2020 budget.
Though with little exceptions in some key areas, government will not purchase new vehicles this year in the new policy guideline released on March 17 by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning Mrs (Dr.) Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed.
The cut which will amount to billions of Naira will also affect computer software acquisition, purchase of computers/printers, office and residential furniture and fittings, photocopying machine/scanners/shredding machine, office and residential building.
Others are acquisition and rehabilitation of land, rehabilitation of buildings, empowerment programmes and capacity building/ training.
