Nollywood actor, Abiodun Aleja, is dead

Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Abiodun Aleja, has passed away.

Aleja died on Friday, May 21, 2021.

According to news reports, the late actor’s wife broke the news to the chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the National association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANATAP), Makinde Adeniran.

The Nollywood icon had an accidental fall at his home and was taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) where he was later admitted after he went into a coma.

He was reported to have been revived some days after, but later passed on yesterday.

His colleagues have been pouring in tributes to the veteran actor who was said to be a humble, yet brilliant teacher to those willing to learn.

A Twitter user recounts how the actor had helped him to perfect his script writing skills.

Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, also wrote, “Oh no…Biodun is dead..”

Aleja is best known for his role in ‘October 1’, which was produced in 2014; ‘We don’t live here anymore’, and his recent movie, ‘Sade’, which was released in 2019.
