Ghanaian actress, Akuapem Poloo, has been sent back to prison to begin her 90-day jail term after her appeal was denied.
The ruling was made on Wednesday at the High Court in Accra.
The actress was arrested and sentenced to three months in prison over a viral picture of her naked with her son, in April 2021.
She was charged with the publication of obscene materials, engaging in domestic violence and undermining human dignity. She pleaded guilty.
The Accra High Court had granted Poloo ¢80,000 bail with two sureties to be paid after thousands signed a petition for her release.
In a ruling on Wednesday, the Criminal Division of the court presided over by Justice Ruby Aryeetey stated that the appeal will be dismissed since the Circuit court’s decision was not manifestly excessive.
Justice Aryee said, “This court will not interfere, and the appeal is therefore dismissed.”
The court ordered that the child should be handed to any responsible family member pending the time she would be in prison.
