In the latest twist to the crisis rocking the Ondo State Assembly, security operatives, on Thursday, denied two lawmakers entry into the assembly complex.

KaftanPost correspondent gathered that the affected lawmakers were Rasheed Elegbeleye, representing Akoko North-East Constituency and Festus Akingbaso, representing Idanre Constituency.

The pair are members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and they are reportedly part of the league of lawmakers against the impeachment of the current deputy governor and candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Agboola Ajayi, in the October 10 governorship election in the state.

A viral video on Twitter revealed the two lawmakers protesting against the action of the policemen at the assembly gate.

The suspended Deputy Minority Leader and member representing Ondo West constituency 1, Tomide Leonard, uploaded the video in a caption, ” Anti-impeachment Honorable Members of the Ondo State House of Assembly prevented from entering the house of assembly today to attend plenary. Security officers at the gate claimed they are under strict instructions to deny all anti-impeachment lawmakers access.”

It was however alleged that one of the security operatives told the prevented lawmakers that the Assembly Speaker, Bamidele Oloyeloogun, directed that the gate be locked against them.

Efforts made to reach the speaker, Rt. Hon. Oloyeloogun, however, proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.

It would be recalled that after the defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC), there have been moves by some lawmakers, said to be Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s loyalists, to remove the embattled deputy governor, Ajayi, but the move had since failed as no quorum was formed by the Assembly.
