Ondo State House of Assembly speaker, Bamidele Oleyeloogun, has been alleged on Tuesday to have been behind the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifedore local government after the ward Congresses held in the state.
The speaker, who in conjunction with Chairman of the local government, Hon. Alex Oladimeji, and some chieftains of the party in the state, are at the risk of being suspended for allegedly not following party guidelines in expressing grievances over the Ward congresses held on July 31.
It was gathered that the Speaker and other chieftains of the party have been fueling crisis within the party in the council area which violated Article 21 of the APC constitution by allegedly sponsoring protest against the party.
The crisis seems getting unresolved on a daily basis as some aggrieved members in the local government and the Speaker’s local government, on Monday, approached a Federal High Court to challenge the conduct of the Congresses held on Saturday, 31st July, 2021.
Defendants in the suit are the APC, Mallam Mai Mala Buni, Mr. Gboyega Isiaka, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, Tunde Fawoyi, and the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Claimants in the suit, Mr. Segun Boboyi and Hon Idowu Adebusuyi, are asking for an order setting aside all actions and decisions taken by the Respondents in the Ifedore APC Ward congresses.
Addressing newsmen in Akure, one of the leaders of the aggrieved members, Adebusuyi, said they were tired of waiting endlessly for the party leadership to resolve issues arising from the conduct of the congress.
Adebusuyi fingered the speaker as one of the brains behind the crisis and other notable leaders in Ifedore that supported their course.
“People that believed in what we believed are the shakers and movers of Ifedore politics. Without us, nothing can happen in that local government. If we are pushed away, APC will not win any election in that local government any longer. ”
He said, “In igbara oke zone, the Speaker, Hon Oloyeloogun is part of our group, chief Ilori is also part of our group and many others.”
Reacting, an APC chieftain from Ifedore and former Special Adviser to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Transportation, Tobi Ogunleye, also alleged that the Speaker, Oleyeloogun, led other aggrieved members to hijack the ward congresses.
Ogunleye said Oleyeloogun created another list and wanted to impose it on the party in the local government which was vehemently rejected by party members, hence his actions to create crisis in the party.
Ogunleye further said the directive was for ward leaders to generate a consensus list of party executives without interference.
He said the party accepted the consensus list that was gotten from a process that followed laid down rules and procedure.
