The governorship candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Eyitayo Jegede and Agboola Ajayi have casted their ballots.

Both ondo governorship hopefuls, however, expressed displeasure at the conduct of the poll.

Ajayi, who is the deputy governor, alleged that the security of the election has been compromised after voting in Apoi Ward II, Unit 004.

He said, “Ondo State people are ready to vote freely. In any contest, there must be a winner. They should have allowed the process to be free and fair.

“You can see the turnout that has been very encouraging here. But I want to also say that the way we have seen it here, the security arrangement is a bit compromised which is not exactly what happened in Edo State.

“I want to appeal to the security agents to live up to expectation, be neutral, see that every Nigerian’s vote counts.

“INEC has put in place so many measures and I want to believe they are not also part of this conspiracy.”

Similarly, Jegede expressed frustration with the slow pace of the exercise after the smart card readers severally failed to identify his PVC and that of his wife, Eno.

The machine had worked perfectly till when Jegede and wife were to cast their votes.

The technical challenge was later resolved and the couple voted.

Jegede and wife had arrived at Ward 2, polling unit 10, Akure South Local Government Area around 9 a.m and immediately joined the queue.
