The Resident Doctors of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Owo, Ondo State has called off the two weeks strike embarked upon.

In a communiqué made exclusively available to KAFTAN Post on Friday by the Chairman of the Resident Doctors Association of the centre, Dr Olaopa, the suspension was made due to the intervention of the association’s national President, Dr Ishaya Godiya, and the South west caucus leader of the Association, Dr Adedayo Williams.

Some of the demands made by the Doctors to the hospital management and Federal government are the recruitment of clinical staff, so as to reduce the work load of the resident doctors who work round the clock, and the agitation for provision of more lodges for the medical personnel who could no longer bear the over pairing of bunks.

The Chairman, therefore, applauded the intervention of the national president, the southwest leaser and other well-meaning Nigerians who realised the negative impact the strike might have on the people’s health and the danger it might pose on the society at large.

However, the striking doctors have been urged to resume to their duty posts immediately without any further delay, while the management of the health institution is expected to consider all the necessary needful on its table for speedy consideration.
