Just a few hours after the announcement of the removal of the Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Iroju Ogundeji, the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, has raised a fresh alarm over alleged plots by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to impeach and eventually remove him from office.

Agboola in a statement signed by his media aide, Mr. Allen Sowore, on Tuesday said; “Again, the Office of Ondo State Deputy Governor has credible information about new plans by Mr. Governor to remove his Deputy by all means and at any cost illegally.”

The statement further noted that “On October 20th 2020, the Office of Ondo State Deputy Governor did raise an alarm about plans by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN and his allies to forge signature of the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi on a prepared resignation letter.”

He continued by stating that, “To this end, the Governor, on Monday, 23rd November, 2020, sacked the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Kola Olawoye SAN, inelegantly for his stand against illegality and iniquity.”

While justifying the claim about the purported impeachment move against him as allegedly sponsored by the Governor, he emphasised;

“Today, Mr. Governor has clandestinely orchestrated the announcement of the removal of the Deputy Speaker of the State House Of Assembly, Rt Honourable Ogundeji Iroju, without any due process.

“All these are premeditated efforts to circumvent the institutions of state and usurp the powers of both the legislative and judiciary arms of government to pave way for the illegal removal of the Deputy Governor.”

He however concluded by sounding a note of warning to the entire Ondo State citizenry;

“The general public should be wary of these latest antics and desperation of the Governor to remove his Deputy through macabre plan to forged signatures of members of the State House Of Assembly on the prepared impeachment notice.”

It would be recalled that the Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) to challenge the governor on the platform of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) during the just concluded governorship election in the state.

Meanwhile there were earlier alleged moves within the state house of Assembly to get him out of office during preparations towards the October 10 governorship election in the state.

KaftanPost correspondent however made some effort to obtain a feedback from the alleged quarters but none of the individuals reached could respond as at Press time.
