The Italy-based striker joined his international teammates in Morocco ahead of this weekend’s qualifiers.

Ighalo is returning after earlier announcing his retirement from international football.

Osimhen had also stated that he has no issues with the return of the former Man United player to the team.

The Napoli striker described Ighalo as a big brother who will always be needed around.

The Super Eagles will be playing the last group games of the Qatar 2022 African qualifying series against Liberia and Cape Verde.

“It’s good to have Ighalo back,” Napoli striker Osimhen told the Super Eagles media team in Morocco where they are preparing for Saturday’s qualifying clash against Liberia.

“It’s good for the team. The coach and federation know what’s best for the team so we welcome him with open arms. We’re looking forward to receiving him in camp and he’s like a big brother to me.

“I really love him a lot and I admire him so much. I think it’s important to have him in the squad and we all have the common goal to qualify for the World Cup and do well at AFCON. So whatsoever is good for the team, the coach and federation will bring it into play.”

Osimhen had an injury scare days ago and was forced to miss two Napoli games. But he says he is now fully recovered after playing in the 1-1 Serie A draw with Verona on Sunday.

“An MRI scan showed there was nothing serious,” he explained. “It was important to rest for a few days before I played on Sunday.

“Like I said before, I’m always ready when I’m called upon. To give my all for my country is one of the most important things in my career. I’m ready come Saturday.”
