The special investigation panel set up by the inspector-general of police, Usman Baba, to probe deputy police commissioner, Abba Kyari, has submitted its amended report.
Kyari was suspended and placed under investigation after the FBI in the United States alleged his involvement in a $1.1m Internet fraud allegedly perpetrated by Abbas Ramon aka Hushpuppi and four others.
The FBI had also claimed that Kyari detained a co-conspirator of Hushpuppi at the latter’s behest for one month which enabled Hushpuppi to defraud a Qatari victim of over $1m.
The four-man panel headed by the deputy IGP in charge of Force criminal investigations department, Joseph Egbunike, submitted its findings to the IGP on Monday.
The panel submitted an amended report after the IGP rejected an earlier report for allegedly being too lenient on Kyari.
