There are concerns about the level of attention being given to Coronavirus patients at the Gwagwalada COVID-19 isolation/treatment centre, Abuja.

Some patients are alleging that the medics at the special centre, located within the general hospital, designated by the Federal Government for the treatment of the dreaded virus, have not been giving them the much needed attention.

One particular patient, Sani (surname withheld) brought in from Kebbi State on Thursday at around 5 p m was left unattended to for hours.

He was later told by a doctor to contact the Minister, presumably of Health, before he, the doctor could attend to him. The doctor, eyes witness say told the patient that he would only attend to him if so directed by the minister, stressing that without that”there’s nothing I can do.”

KaftanPost gathered that Mrs Kalgo had to seek the intervention of the former first Lady, Aishat Yar’Adua before her husband was attended to.

“So very true that patients are neglected in the Abuja centre. Since moving in last night, I haven’t seen any one again,” Ayo, a patient brought in from Life Camp, Abuja, confirms to KAFTAN Post

Medics at the Gwagwalada facility have been grumbling of late over the overbearing attitudes of top government officials who bring in patients to the centre and give bed space without the knowledge of the management.

The surgery department was recently closed down by the Head of Department as a result of this interference.

Not too long ago, it was reported that two nurses and a doctor tested positive for Coronavirus, highlighting the dangers faced by frontline workers in the war against COVID -19.
