The Imo State Police Command have blamed the former Special Adviser (Politics) to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Ahmed Gulak, for the fate that befell him on Saturday night.

Gulak was on his way to Abuja from Owerri when he was shot dead on Saturday night.

According to a release, titled ‘Murder of Ahmed Gulak by Armed bandits’, and signed by the Imo State Police PRP, SP Bala Elkana, Gulak was involved in an irregular movement, which led to his death.

The statement said he “left his room at Protea Hotel without informing the police nor sister agencies in view of the fragile security situation in the South East and Imo in particular.”

The statement added that “He left without any security escorts and while the cab driver took irregular route to the airport, six armed bandits who rode in a Toyota Sienna intercepted, identified and shot Ahmed Gulak at around Umueze Obiangwu kn Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area close to the airport.”

The statement also disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro has directed a discreet investigation into the matter.
