The Ondo State Police command has confirmed the release of the wife of Chief of Staff to state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
In a statement by Police Commissioner, Mr. Bolaji Salami through the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. T-Leo Ikoro, the details surrounding the victim’s rescue was revealed.
The press release titled, “Police rescue wife of Chief of Staff –as CP warns hoodlums to stop making a trial of his Command”, reads;
“The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Police Command, CP Salami Amidu Bolaji warns hoodlums parading as kidnappers in Ondo State and its environs to relocate or have themselves to blame as his Command will not tolerate their cohabitation.
CP Salami said this when he received the news of the rescue of the wife of the Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu (SAN) who was abducted by some miscreants parading as kidnappers along Owena region of the State while she was returning from function in Ondo town to Akure at about 2030 hours on Thursday November 26, 2020.
“CP Amidu Bolaji said he was touched by the kidnap of the wife of the Chief of Staff at a point no one could imagine as a flashpoint in Ondo State.
“When I heard of the abduction of the wife of the Chief of Staff to the govenor of Ondo State, I felt disheartened, so I ordered my officers of all ranks, sought the assistance of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, the State Security Services, the Nigerian army, the vigilante and even the hunters to ensure the woman is rescued at whatever cost without being hurt. I was happy when the news of her rescue came to me”.
While acknowledging the joint efforts of the security personnel involved in the operation, he added, “It would be recalled that the personnel of these agencies worked assiduously in the forest with men of Ondo Police Command to ensure the safe rescue of the wife of the “COS” to the governor of Ondo State.
” CP Salami further said with this victory, he made a grunting noise of how naive these criminals are to think that they can come to Ondo State, ply their trade and get away with it.
” He assures the government and good people of Ondo State never to get panic as the Command under his care is ready and willing to secure everyone’s live and property, as he praises the supports and willingness of those who assisted the Command in the rescue operation, saying this is the only way to properly secure the State”.
