UEFA are keen for the summer transfer window to close on October 5, before the commencement of next season’s Champions League.

It is understood that clubs are considering extending the transfer window for few weeks mainly for deals that involve Football League clubs that are badly affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

If clubs want to utilise their maximum allowance, they might agree to open the transfer window before the current league season ends on July 26.

A Pemier League meeting is scheduled for 24 July where a decision is expected to be made.

It is also anticipated that a start date for the 2020-21 season will be confirmed at the next meeting.

Starting the new season on 12 September is the most likely option but that would likely be after the September International break.

However, Football Association and the EFL fear that reduced number of match dates will have an impact on their respective cup competitions.
