Cristiano Ronaldo came out on top in his battle against great rival, Lionel Messi, as Juventus ease past Barcelona in Champions League to win group G.

The iconic duo – the two greatest players of their generation – faced off at the Camp Nou as Barcelona and Juventus vied for the top spot.

Ronaldo scored two penalties to take his Champions League goal tally to 134 in a dominant display against the Spanish giant.

His first came on 13 minutes when he was felled in the box by Ronald Araujo and stepped up to send Marc-Andre ter Stegen the wrong way from 12 yards.

Juve doubled their lead through Weston McKennie’s bicycle kick before Ronaldo added his second from the spot after Clement Lenglet handled.

Barcelona had needed to simply avoid defeat by three goals to finish top of the group.

But they were unable to do so and the humbling reverse means Ronaldo Koeman’s side miss out on a seeding spot in the last-16 draw.

It is Barcelona’s first defeat in a group game since 2016.
