Embattled Nollywood star, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, aka Baba Ijesha, on Thursday, appeared in court with two Senior Advocates of Nigeria and 17 other lawyers.
Baba Ijesha is presently at the Lagos State Special Offences Court demanding bail over health grounds.
Dada Awosika, SAN and Babatunde Ogala, SAN, made their appearances before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo to represent Ijesha while the state is being represented by Olayinka Adeyemi and four other prosecutors.
KAFTANPost reported that the embattled actor arrived earlier today at the Lagos State Special Offences Court today in a black maria.
Awosika and Ogala as well as the other counsels for Baba Ijesha are pressing for his bail application.
The actor was formerly granted a bail of N500,000 with a surety of a level 16 civil servant but he couldn’t meet up.
His lawyer, Kayode Olabiran then requested for a fresh bail but was also rejected by Magistrate Peter Nwaka.
Baba Ijesha pleaded not guilty to the crime accused of at his first appearance on June 16.
He was charged with indecent treatment of a child, defilement of a child, sexual assault by penetration, attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault, which contravene sections 135, 137, 261, 202, 262 and 263 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
The court will decide on his bail after recess.
