Nigeria’s COVID-19 positive cases swelled by 381 on Thursday, as the deadly contagion continues to sweep across the world’s biggest black nation.

In a Twitter update, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) revealed that the country has now reached 3,526 cases with Lagos, Kano and Jigawa States leading the way as the Federal  Territory takes the back seat.

Epicentre, Lagos, racked up almost half of the new infections with 181 surrounded by a glut of northern states.

Kano and Jigawa trailed, recording 55 and 44 new cases while Zamfara and Bauchi had 19 each.

Katsina racked up 11, Borno had nine, joined by Kwara, Kaduna and Gombe with eight, seven and six cases respectively.

Gombe (6), Ogun (5), Sokoto (4), Oyo, Rivers (3), Niger (2), Akwa Ibom, Enugu and Plateau (1) completed the new cases.

Sixty persons recovered from the virus, taking the tally to 601 while four fatlities were recorded.

There have been growing concerns over mysterious deaths in Kano and Jigawa amidst the COVID-19.

No fewer than 600 persons reportedly died in controversial circumstances in Kano in the last fortnight.

Fourty-seven passed in one week in Jigawa.

While both state governments have outrightly denied any links to the rampaging contagion, recent figures from the NCDC says otherwise.
