Nigerian female singer and wife to the Nigerian artist, Mr Adekunke Gold, Simi has expressed her frustration with the decision made by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) concerning the registration of sim cards.
Simi on her twitter account on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 has shown her disagreement on the two weeks deadline given by Nigerian Communications Commission to register sim cards with National Identity Numbers (NIN).
She said there is limited time, stating she is tired of the government always trying to impose certain things on the citizens with little or no time to achieve that.
Reacting to this, Simi said the government is more concerned about sim cards when people are suffering and ‘impoverished’.
The Nigerian Communications Commission had in a statement on Tuesday, given all telecommunication companies in Nigeria a timeline of 14 days to block SIM cards not registered with the NIN.
The statement read: “The submission of NIN by subscribers to take place within two weeks (from today December 16,2020 to December 30, 2020). After the deadline, all SIMs without NINs are to be blocked from the networks.”
It warned that any telecom who fail to comply with this directive risk withdrawal of licence or heavy penalty.
Simi on twitter said, “Lol, i want out. Honestly if they want to block it, they should block it. Cos i’m tired and maybe the 15ppl that are able to register in 2 weeks can be calling themself.
“A country where majority of the population are suffering and impoverished, you can’t prioritize.”
The House of Representatives has however asked the Federal government to extend the timeline from two weeks to 10 weeks.
