Congolese singer, Koffi Olomide, has been cleared of his rape charges, however he has also been sentenced to 18 months in prison on charges of holding some women in hostage.

His verdict was passed at the Versailles Court in France on Monday December 13th, 2021.

The singer was sentenced to jail for holding four women, who were reported to be his dancers, against their will.

Koffi was found guilty in 2019 for sexual assault and kidnapping his dancers in 2002 and 2006 at his home.

He was ordered to pay Sh1.2 million ($10,000) each to the three women in question.

He was equally charged with rape allegations but his recent verdict has cleared the rape charge due to some unexplainable evidences displayed in court.

The lawyers of the victims showed their disappointment in a statement released to the press.

According to them, the ladies would be disappointed with the verdict.

“Obviously they will be disappointed with the sexual assault verdicts because for them it was the most important thing.”
