South Africa overcome Nigeria in six-goal thriller to win Aisha Buhari Cup

South Africa have emerged winner of the Aisha Buhari Cup after overcoming the Super Falcons of Nigeria in a six-goal thriller.

The Nigerian female national team suffered a 4-2 defeat in the maiden edition of the Aisha Buhari Invitationa Women’s tournament, which witnessed a thrilling finale at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Tuesday evening.

Banyana Banyana opened the scoring as early as the 6th minute following an own goal by Alozie Michelle.

Ikechukwu Vivian’s brace were the only goals the Falcons could boast, which could not reduce the fire force of the visiting team.

However, Cameroon finished at the bottom of the six-team table, having lost their two games without scoring,

Mali also failed to score in their two games but ended with a point to their name having held Morocco to finish in the fifth position.

Ghana lost their first game against South Africa but won their second against Cameroon to finish with three points while Morocco finished on four points after a win and draw.
