The pedal-to-the-metal made with wood

Any time a new administration comes into office, there will be some complaining about the new president’s cabinet picks. But we’re seeing something extraordinary happening now. President Buhari’s cabinet brings with it a combination of ethical problems, inexperience, hostility to the need of the nation as the worst of its members in a
large sum, are being called to lead, and plain old ignorance that is simply unprecedented.

This is shaping up to be nothing less than the worst cabinet in Nigerian history.

The change from the leadership under Goodluck Jonathan and by farther reference backward, that of President Olusegun Obasanjo is already striking: the current team are people with garbage. No or less experience in the corporate world or any known career, but it’s even worse than that: they are many alumni of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission who would now drive a supposed anti-corruption policy of the government they are to serve.

Many of the “take a bow and go” would be ministers will be sitting on ministries despite having no idea what the ministry does or have pre requisite experience in such field.

Never before has one president assembled such a remarkable collection of individuals who are either unqualified for their jobs, devoted to subverting their agencies, or both, not to mention the ethical questions that will continue to swirl around this administration.

One would have expected the contempt for corruption in a government like this to be evident to some degree in the appointments of any minister into the administration. But Buhari has truly blazed a new trail with the people he has gathered around him. One can only imagine the damage they’re going to do.

At this moment in Nigeria’s history, if you could somehow organize the entire population into a single line, all likely 200 million people, ordered not by height or weight or age, but by each citizen’s interest in the federal government, and Buhari loitered somewhere near one end of it, ineptitude will be at the other end.

And so, the clock starts and the taillights flare, and they’re off again, strapped down, fueled up, and bound on an outlaw enterprise with the feeblest of integrity between them and the all-time speed record for crossing the Nigerian government corridor with the weakest of wheels.

The gear is all bought and loaded.

A party cannot buy back that which it never owned, and a transaction that is mandatory is not an exchange at all, but a seizure. We should call things what they are. That might help us to understand why this administration thinks they do not owe us or else why would they assemble corruption endemic persons presented as saints to us in company of the weakest hands as ministers of the federal republic?

The concept of personality. Whereas the concept “human being” emphasises man’s biosocial, body-mind origin, the concept “personality” is connected mainly with his social and psychological aspects, such as his sense of dignity, his self-appraisal, his value orientations, beliefs, the principles by which he lives, his moral, aesthetic, socio-political and other social positions, his convictions and ideals, and also the character, the special features of his intellect, the style and independence of his thinking, the specific nature of his emotional make-up, his willpower, cast of mind and feelings, his social status.

One cannot conceive of a personality as something separate from the human being, or even from his external and general physical appearance.

A check through the list of ministers except for an insignificant few suggests men with double faced personality and no integrity at all. It is all alien to them.

The central feature of the personality is world outlook. A person cannot become a personality without evolving what is known as a world outlook or world-view, which includes his philosophical view of the world. These ones am sure will have no respect in the committee of men where they will be masked to seat as but representing a country.

The worst of us seems to be ruling the rest of us.

This very would be cabinet fail to inspire confidence among Nigerians. The cabinet can best be described as cosmetic.

President Buhari is carrying with him a lot of deadwood in that cabinet. The people that will sit in cabinet are not going to help the President, the majority of those are merely going to serve their personal interests.

Let it be said that it will be a miracle to have a working government with the team that has been put together. Let it be on record!
