Tokyo 2020: Nigeria’s Adesokan loses to Spain’s Azurmendi in Women Badminton Singles

On Monday, Nigeria’s Dorcas Adesokan lost to Clara Azurmendi of Spain in her opening game in the women’s singles badminton event of the 2020 summer Olympic Games.

She is rated 89th in the world, according to the Badminton World Federation.

Adesokan, 23, lost 0-2 (10-21, 2-21) in the  Group C fixtures at the Musashino Forest Plaza court in Tokyo.

She will however proceed to face World number 7 – An Seyoung of South Korea on Tuesday evening at the same venue.

Meanwhile, to proceed in their Group B campaign of the men’s double event, Nigerian pair – Godwin Olofua and Anuoluwapo Opeyori – will return to the same venue to compete against Kim Astrup and Anders Rasmussen at 6pm Tokyo time.
