Wednesday’s morning fire incident at the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation did not destroy official records, Minister of State for Budget and Planning Honorable Clement Agba has said.
In Federal Government’s first official response to the inferno that razed parts of the building known as Treasury House, Agba said no financial records of government was destroyed in the process.
“The fire did not affect our data centre, which is actually fully backed up,” another official said.
“We have been using computer to process and back up information for the past 11 years.”
An initial post-fire assessment and investigation by fire fighters from the Fire Service had alleged that the inferno could have been a sabotage as official records were destroyed.
