Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, 7 Division Garrison, have arrested a 15-man notorious Malian criminal gang following a major crackdown on gang-related activities in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The arrest followed reports of deadly criminal activities of the gang in Gwange, Umarari and Jajeri Local Government Areas of Maiduguri.
Zagazola Makama, a Counterinsurgency Expert, said the gang has terrorised residents, snatching mobile phones and other belongings, as well as loss of several lives and severe injuries inflicted on innocent citizens in the state.
Makama said, “Items recovered from the suspects include one Pump action gun, one Axe, one Jackknife and 5 phones.”
The suspects and items have been handed over to the Department of State Services for further action.
