US President Donald Trump has called on Georgia’s governor, Brian Kemp, to halt the state’s upcoming senate race amidst claim that the November presidential election saw widespread voter fraud.

“Do something @BrianKempGA. You allowed your state to be scammed,” Trump tweeted at Georgia’s governor, Brian Kemp, on Tuesday.

“We must check signatures and count signed envelopes against ballots.

“Then call off election. It won’t be needed. We will all WIN!,” he added.

Trump lost the historically conservative state of Georgia to President-elect Joe Biden, a Democrat, during last month’s election and has refused to concede defeat, calling on the electoral authorities to conduct a fresh election.

However, the state of Georgia, with large Republican followership will have two simultaneous runoff elections for the Senate in January while the outcome is expected to determine the political party that will control the U.S. Senate after Biden is inaugurated.

Trump laments that the fraud in Georgia stopped the Republican candidates for Senate from winning the election by a wide margin, adding that there would have been no need for the January runoff.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, a Republican, has responded by stating that there is no proof of widespread of fraud in the Nov. 3 election.

Kemp and Raffensperger certified Georgia’s election results over a week ago, confirming that Biden won the state by a little more than 12,000 votes.

Meanwhile, in a swift response to Trump’s claim of electoral fraud in the state of Georgia, a top official overseeing the election, Gabriel Sterling, accused the president of inciting violence against local election workers.

“Stop inspiring people to commit potential acts of violence. Someone is going to get hurt.

“Someone is going to get killed. And it’s not right,” Sterling said.
