The United States of America, on Saturday, reached a grim milestone as the country with most coronavirus deaths.

The US recorded a total death toll of 19,882, surpassing Italy’s death toll of 19,468 with confirmed cases in excess of 503,000.

The worldwide death toll is now over 107,000, with the number of infections worldwide topping 1.7 million, including more than 395,000 recovered patients.

The US surgeon general warned the country on Sunday that it will face a “Pearl Harbor moment” in the next week, with an unprecedented numbers of coronavirus deaths expected coast to coast.

“The next week is going to be our Pearl Harbor moment. It’s going to be our 9/11 moment,” Jerome Adams said.

“It’s going to be the hardest moment for many Americans in their entire lives, and we really need to understand that if we want to flatten that curve and get through to the other side, everyone needs to do their part.”
