The United States Women’s National Team were ruthless today as they outclassed the Super Falcons of Nigeria 4-0 in a friendly match in Kansas City.

The world champions have never lost to the nine-time African champions and the difference in class was glaring on the first of two scheduled friendly matches between the two sides.

Sophia Smith scored twice for the USWNT, with Lindsey Horan and the veteran Alex Morgan adding the other goals.

The hosts were 3-0 up before half-time, Smith setting the ball rolling in the 14th minute.

Horan made it 2-0 in the 25th minute as the world’s top women’s football team ran rings around the African giants.

Smith found herself unmarked in the Super Falcons box and slotted home for a simple finish on the stroke of half-time to ensure the USWNT went into the break with a commanding 3-0 lead.

The Americans took things easier in the second half, adding just one more goal against the depleted Nigerian team short on confidence from their poor outing at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Morgan converted a penalty just seven minutes after the break, sending Nigeria goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie the wrong way to score USA’s fourth goal on the night and her 119th for her country.

The two teams will clash again on Tuesday in Washington, DC as they both continue their preparations for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
