Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke, has stated reasons he doesn’t follow anyone on his Instagram account even with so many followers.

As stated by the actor, social media, especially Instagram, is a market place, an environment far from reality.

He said this in an interview with Temisan Emmanuel on his Tea with Tay podcast.

Jim Iyke said anything posted on his social media accounts are tailored for business and nothing personal.

He noted that his family and his personal life generally are not to be displayed on social media because he believes that’s a private world.

The actor also said he doesn’t want his children to be accessible like other celebrity kids who you can easily notice in the crowd.

He said, “From day one I got on social media, I didn’t want to follow anybody. I wanted to establish the fact that this is a market place.

“It’s a pseudo reality there. It’s not what people want to take as their everyday life.

“If you see any of my posts, it’s tailored. I don’t post about my family. I don’t post my pleasures. There are certain things I think should be left for one to experience alone.

“There are three tiers of life that I live. I live the private life, the public life, and the secret life.

“Social media is public life. If I want to make a statement in style, if I want to make a statement on my ideology and principles, if I want to market something, or if I want to set a new understanding on my opinion of something, that is where I should be.

“If I’m having a good time with people that don’t mind being on that platform,I go there.”

“I have kids that run the mall at every part of the world and no one would say ‘I know that face’.”
