The song has won the award for ‘Outstanding Music Video/Visual Album’ of the year category.

The show organisers announced the award on Twitter on Friday, March 26, 2021.

Walt Disney Studios tweeted: “Congratulations to Beyoncé, Wizkid, SAINt JHN and Blue Ivy Carter on their NAACP Image Award win for Best Music Video/Visual Album for ‘Brown Skin Girl'”.

Other nominees of the same category are. ‘Anything for you – Ledisi’, ‘Do It – Chloe & Halle’, ‘I Can’t Breathe – H.E.R.’.

This makes it the second award by NAACP as Wizkid and Beyonce had previously won the award for the “Outstanding duo/Group of collaboration” for the 2020 edition.

The four-minute song was released in July 2019 on Beyonce’s album, ‘The Lion King: The Gift’.
