World Bank appoints Ivorian new head of IFC

A new head of International Finance Corporation (IFC) has been appointed by the World Bank on Friday, 27 November. The new head was appointed in Benin Republic.

The new head, a national of Côte d’lvoire, Mr Obre Cybdo, is expected to work closely with International Finance Corporation’s regional representation in Accra, Ghana, MIGA teams, and also the World Bank.

Mr Obre holds a Master’s degree in International Finance and Business from Institut Supérieur du Commerce de Paris.

IFC has been active in Benin since 1999, and is known for financing tourism, water and SMEs. IFC has invested more than US$300 million from 2009 to date in Nigeria.

According to an official statement, the new head’s primary priority will be to implement IFC’s Covid-19 response. He is also responsible for the coordination of increase in IFC’s sector such as infrastructure, finance for SMEs, etc.
