The Zamfara State Government has lifted the ban imposed on political activities in the state following resurgence of banditry and kidnapping.

This was made known in a statement issued on Monday in Gusau by the Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Dosara.

The statement also disclosed that the curfew imposed on Gummi, Anka and Bukkuyum local government areas have been lifted.

Dosara added that schools, markets and public places recently closed by the government in nine towns due to heightened insecurity in the affected areas have been reopened.

The commissioner, who explained that the development followed the satisfactory reports received on the security situation in those communities, has reassured the people of the state of the government’s commitment to protect lives and property.

Recall that the State government, by Executive Order No.10, banned all political rallies and electioneering campaigns in the state citing resurgence of banditry and kidnapping in some communities.
