2 killed in Ondo bank robbery

At least two persons were shot dead in Ode-Irele of Irele local government area in Ondo State on Thursday, when armed robbers attacked a Bank and nearby Police station.

According to the narration of the actual event as obtained by KaftanPost correspondent, the robbers who reportedly arrived the Bank at 3:15pm in a Toyota picnic vehicle numbering up to 10, operated for 47 minutes.

Speaking with the Ondo Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. T-leo Ikoro, on the incident, he confirmed that the said gang also went to the closest Police station, shot at random and carted away some rifles.

An undisclosed amount of money was said to have been carted away with by the robbers.

An eye witness source also revealed that the gang of robbers also left with the bank manager’s car.

KaftanPost gathered that the army in an attempt to restore calmness to the area was sighted at the Bank just few minutes after the robbery gang had left.

It would be recalled that the robbery incident came just a few hours after the Inspector General of Police had left the state on Friday for a stakeholders security meeting.
