As campaigns for the 2023 Elections prepare to take off, Nigerians in the Diaspora have declared their interest to participate.

Making this declaration is a group of Nigerians in the diaspora on the platform of Nigeria Leadership Search (NLS).

Speaking on behalf of the group, Prince Samuel Anwuzia, a Nigerian who has served the Nigerian Community in London, said the coming elections are quite significant in the life of Nigerians.

For him, the phenomenon that the elections have generated thus far underscores the importance and significance of current political process and future of the country.

” The coming elections speak to the future, hopes and aspirations of every Nigerian at home and abroad. As Nigerians abroad, we cannot allow ourselves to be left out in the process. From the remittances Nigeria make from us to service the economy, it will be a disservice to disenfranchise us from this All-important political process…”Prince Anwuzia said.

Although, he is aware that the Nigerian Electoral Act does not allow for diaspora voting, Prince Anwuzia, who is the Convener of the organization said an improvised process can be applied for now; pending when the constitution can allow for voting in the diaspora.

According to him, arrangements can be made for Nigerians all over the world to perform their civic duty in a way that can be accommodated within the context of the current Electoral Act.

He further added that the NLS is ready, willing and able to mobilize Nigerians across the world for this exercise.

To make good its intentions, Prince Anwuzia said the organization will soon commence consultations with relevant agencies in Nigeria to work out modalities for this improvisation. Additionally, it will also move to involve some foreign governments to see how this improvisation can be handled at the level of international diplomacy.

The Nigeria Leadership Search NLS Convener hinted that, in consonance with its name, the group will soon be organizing a platform both in Nigeria and abroad for the political front runners to talk to Nigerians on what they have to offer.
