2023: Osuntokun replaces Okupe as Obi’s campaign DG

Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has named former Political Adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo, Akin Osuntokun as the new Director General of its Presidential Campaign.

Osuntokun replaces Doyin Okupe who resigned after he was found guilty of money laundering.

This development was was confirmed by the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, on Tuesday.

Abure said the decision was reached after comprehensive consultations with party stakeholders across board.

Osuntokun became the South-West leader of the party after he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the LP in August 2022.

Recall that court sentenced Okupe to two years imprisonment but with an option to pay a N500,000 fine on each count, totalling N13 million.

Okupe then opted to pay the fine after the sentencing.
