Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu says Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the right and best man for the job, as processes begin for who succeeds President Muhammadu Buhari.

Sanwo-Olu, who said 2023 will be a difficult year as Tinubu aspires to be president, stated that it is time to work to ensure all the successes in Lagos is replicated at the national level by helping Tinubu to actualise his goal.

Sanwo-Olu, who said this at the 17th Executive-Legislative parley themed “Mobilizing Citizens as a Social Capital Towards 2023 General Elections”, today, stated that it is the important that all stakeholders work together as one, especially as 2023 approaches.

“There is a whole lot that we can achieve together as a united bloc. Therefore, I enjoin you all to come together and let us rally round our father and leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he gives the nation’s presidency a shot.

“He has unselfishly given himself to the good people of the state and Nigeria as a whole. This, indeed, as someone has rightly said, is the time to pay him back with our unwavering support. He is, no doubt, the right and best man for the job. He knows the issues plaguing our nation like the back of his hands and he has the magic wand to fix it. I, therefore, urge everyone to come together and rally behind this great man of history. Let us rally behind our great party. Let us speak with one voice. Together, we will give our nation a new lease of life.

I thank you all for listening. God bless you.”

The governor, who noted that the theme for the year’s parley is apt in view of the giant strides that his administration has made in the area of inclusive governance, said: “Without a doubt, the remarkable strides that our administration has attained in the last two and a half years would have been impossible, but for the efforts of everyone gathered here today.

“We have been able to achieve results because of the consistent support that we have received from everyone gathered here. We are in the Greater Lagos project together and your contributions toward the overall success of this administration will never be underestimated.

“From the outset, this administration did not delude itself into thinking it had the monopoly of knowledge with regards to finding the right solutions to the myriad challenges confronting the state. This explains why we have consistently thrown our doors open to diverse opinions and views from various sources, and, this forum is an integral part of our steady effort towards rubbing minds with all critical stakeholders with a view to achieving the Greater Lagos of our collective desire”.

The governor said the goal of his government seeking the input of critical stakeholders through public fora such as the parley is to create strategic ways to determine the means of evolving ideas that will alleviate the sufferings of people and improve their quality of life, as well as their economic development.

“The past year was particularly remarkable for us in our aspiration to improve infrastructure across the state. Many of which have been commissioned, thus giving Lagosians a new lease of life. That is why we christened the audacious Y2022 Budget “Budget of Consolidation”; With this budget, now, more than ever before, our destination is in sight.

This year is a special year for us as an administration, because it will be the final full year of the four-year mandate that Lagosians gave us in 2019.

“Distinguished leaders of our great party, as a forward-looking government, we are more focused on the present and the future than the past, because, no matter the level of successes it had brought to us, the past is no longer as important as the present and the future.

“As a way of attaining the future of our collective aspirations, this administration has remained committed to achieving great success in the various sectors of the economy in line with our T. H. E. M. E. S. Agenda.”
