Reigning World Boxing Federations (WBF) Super Featherweight Champion, Ridwan ‘Scorpion’ Oyekola, has thrown his weight behind the presidential ambition of renowned legal practitioner, Prince (Dr) Adewole Adebayo.

Oyekola gave his support to Dr Adebayo at the Palace of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi during the Monarch’s 51st coronation anniversary.

Recall that the media entrepreneur had declared his intention to vie for the country’s most-coveted position last year.

Dr Adebayo, a leading member of the Presidential Committee of the National Consultative Front, is hoping to change the dynamics with the ‘Third Force’.

While presenting his two belts to Adebayo, Scorpion thanked him for the support and encouragement.

According to the Oyo native, Dr Adebayo is a role model for the youth, suited to lead Nigeria out of its present myriad of crisis.

He added that it would be nice to have someone that is charismatic, young and energetic at the helms of affairs.

In his response, however, Adebayo encouraged the wrestler to go all out to retain this title against Georgian opponent, Giorgi Gogatishvili.

Adebayo also promised to support Scorpion’s title defence and career to the highest level, stating that one of his goals, when he becomes president, is to take sports and youth development from the grassroots to a new dawn.

In Adebayo’s high-powered delegation to the Alaafin were former Minister of Youth and Sports, Comrade Solomon Dalung; Senator Ugochuckwu Ubah, Dr Tanko Yunusa, Spokesperson of the National Consultative Front (NCFront) among other eminent Nigerians.

Scorpion was in the company of Chairman, Nigeria Organizing Council (NOC) of the WBF Title Defence fight, Sir Olawale Okunniyi, and his manager, Mr Sola ‘Ford’ Ayodele.
