Nigeria has recorded 64 new positive cases of coronavirus, taking the tally to 1337.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known in a tweet on Monday evening.

Of the new cases, 34 were in Lagos, 15 in the Federal Capital Territory, 11 in Borno and two each in Taraba and Gombe States.

“64 new cases of #COVID19 reported; 34-Lagos 15-FCT 11-Borno 2-Taraba 2-Gombe 11:20 pm1:20pm 27th April- 1337,” the health agency wrote.

Sixteen persons tested negative for the virus taking the recoveries to 255.

However, no casualty was recorded as the deaths remain at 40.

The latest figures would come as a relief to Nigerians, especially after a tumultuous week, culminating in mysterious deaths in Kano State.

This, though, may be the ultimate turning point as the Federal Government ponders easing the lockdown in the Federal  Territory, Ogun and Lagos States.

President Muhammadu Buhari, in his address to the nation, revealed that lockdown would slowly be relaxed as from Monday May 4th.
