87 new COVID-19 cases added but cover-up of huge infections and mass deaths continues in Kano

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Saturday announced that 87 new cases of the novel coronavirus was recorded.

With the new cases, Nigeria now has a total of 1,182 confirmed cases across the country.

According to the NCDC, 33 of the new cases were recorded in Lagos, 18 in Borno, 12 in Osun, nine in Katsina, four each in Kano and Ekiti, three each in Edo and Bauchi and one in Imo.

While 222 patients have now recovered, Nigeria’s total death from the virus now stand at 35.

A breakdown of the latest update shows that 33 of the new cases were reported in Lagos, 18 in Borno, 12 in Osun, nine in Katsina, four in Kano, four in Ekiti, three in Edo, three in Bauchi and one in Imo.

Lagos remains the epicentre for the outbreak in Nigeria, while Imo state recorded its first case since the COVID-19 outbreak in Nigeria.

The NCDC said as of 11:55 p.m on April 25, there were 1182 confirmed cases of COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Of these, 222 infected people have recovered and have been discharged while the death toll rose to 35 from 32 reported on Friday.

A breakdown of all the cases shows that Lagos state has so far reported 689 cases, followed by FCT-138, Kano-77, Ogun-35, Osun-32, Gombe-30, Katsina-30, Borno-30, Edo-22, Oyo-18, Kwara-11, Akwa Ibom-11,Bauchi-11, Kaduna-10, Ekiti-8, Ondo-4, Delta-6, Rivers-3, Jigawa-2, Enugu-2, Niger-2, Abia-2, Zamfara-2, Sokoto-2 while , Benue, Anambra, Adamawa, Plateau, and Imo have one case each.

A total of 28 states and the FCT have so far reported at least a case of the disease.

Meanwhile, while the official record showed that additional four patients were infected in Kano, the noticeable increase in the numbers of the dead, continued unabated.

Check by KAFTAN Post revealed that the state witnessed at least 23 high-profile deaths in the past 24 hours Saturday, due to reasons yet to be ascertained.

Katan Post’s authoritatively gather that over 200 people died in Kano between 17th April and Saturday and their cause of death remains unknown.

It was gathered that not a few suspects that the eminent personalities, who just died, might have succumbed to strange illness since there was no evidence of their being tested for Coronavirus.

It would be recalled that the Covid-19 Testing Centre in Kano have been shut down with no definite date for resumption of the test in the most populous state in Nigeria.

While Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, had on Wednesday dismissed as false claims that the state is being ravaged by a mysterious disease that has led to mass deaths and burials across the state, the Kano State Ministry of Health yesterday, called for calm saying the ministry had already launched an investigation to unravel the real cause of the deaths in the state.
